Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large mixing bowl, toss your sliced apples with half the sugar and cinnamon. Let them sit for about 10-15 minutes to release juices.
In a separate bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, salt, and remaining sugar. Stir in melted butter until just combined.
Pour the apple mixture into a greased baking dish. Spoon the batter over the top.
Mix an additional tablespoon of sugar with a sprinkle of cinnamon and dust over the top.
Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
Allow to cool before serving.
