Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
In a large bowl, combine 1/2 cup of melted butter and 3 large eggs. Add in the yellow cake mix and mix until well combined. Pour this mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.
In another bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add in the pumpkin puree, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined. Finally, add the remaining 2 eggs and mix until there are no lumps.
Pour the pumpkin filling evenly over the cake batter in the pan. Use a spatula to smooth out the top if necessary.
Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes. The center may still look slightly jiggly; this is perfectly fine as it will set while cooling.
Allow the cake to cool for at least 20 minutes before cutting into squares. Dust with additional powdered sugar before serving, if desired.
