Festive Orange Clove Christmas Cookies

Delicious holiday cookies with a comforting blend of spices and sweet citrus notes, perfect for festive gatherings.

  • 1 cup Butter (softened)
  • 1/2 cup Honey
  • 1/4 cup Molasses
  • 2 cups Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cardamom
  • 1/2 teaspoon Clove
  • 1/2 teaspoon Allspice
  • 1 tablespoon Orange Zest
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Icing Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Orange Juice
  • 1 tablespoon Cointreau (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground Clove (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, honey, and molasses until light and fluffy.
  3. Add in the spices: cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cardamom, clove, allspice, and orange zest. Stir until well combined.
  4. Gradually add flour and salt, mixing gently until just blended.
  5. Cover the dough and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Roll the dough into small balls and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spaced about two inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are lightly browned and centers are soft. Let them sit for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  8. Make the glaze by mixing icing sugar, orange juice, Cointreau (if using), and ground clove until smooth.
  9. Once cookies are cool, drizzle glaze over them and let set for 30 minutes.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or refrigerate for longer storage. They freeze well for up to three months.
