Homemade Pesto Sauce

Delicious and easy homemade pesto sauce made with fresh basil, olive oil, and Parmesan cheese.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh basil leaves
  • 1/2 cup Parmigiano-Reggiano, grated
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: Place the fresh basil leaves, grated Parmigiano-Reggiano, minced garlic, salt, and pepper into a food processor.
  2. Process the Mixture: Pulse until finely chopped (about 30 seconds).
  3. Add Olive Oil: While processing, drizzle in the olive oil until the mixture is smooth.
  4. Incorporate Heavy Cream: Stop the processor and stir in heavy cream.
  5. Taste and Adjust: Taste and adjust salt and pepper as needed.
  6. Serve: Use the pesto as desired, such as tossed with pasta or as a dip.

Notes

To keep pesto vibrant, pour a thin layer of olive oil on top before sealing. Freezing in ice cube trays is a great way to store pesto for future use.
