Homemade Pesto Sauce

A flavorful and versatile homemade pesto sauce made with fresh basil, cheese, and nuts that elevates any dish.

  • 2 cups fresh basil leaves
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup pine nuts
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Gather all your ingredients, ensuring the basil leaves are clean and dry.
  2. In a food processor, combine the basil leaves, cheese, pine nuts, and garlic.
  3. Pulse the mixture until finely chopped.
  4. While the processor is running, drizzle in the olive oil to emulsify the sauce.
  5. Add the heavy cream and blend until well combined. Adjust salt to taste.
  6. Serve immediately with pasta, vegetables, or as a spread, or follow storage tips for later use.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze in ice cube trays.
