Rib Cage Mac & Cheese

A fun and creative twist on a classic comfort food featuring a creamy cheese sauce and whimsical rib-shaped crescent roll dough.

  • 8 oz Elbow Macaroni
  • 2 cups Cheddar Cheese
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 4 tbsp Butter
  • 2 tbsp Flour
  • 1 cup Bread Crumbs
  • 1 can Crescent Roll Dough
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Pepper
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder

Instructions

  1. Boil a large pot of salted water and cook the elbow macaroni for 7 to 8 minutes until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat, then stir in the flour to make a roux, cooking for 1 to 2 minutes.
  3. Gradually whisk in the milk and stir until the mixture thickens, about 3 to 5 minutes.
  4. Lower the heat and add the cheddar cheese, stirring until melted and smooth. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  5. Mix the cooked macaroni into the cheese sauce, ensuring it’s evenly coated.
  6. Open the crescent roll dough and shape it into rib-like structures.
  7. In a baking dish, layer the macaroni and cheese, then arrange the rib-shaped dough on top.
  8. Sprinkle breadcrumbs over the top, and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Experiment with different cheeses or add-ins like bacon or veggies for variety. Keep an eye on the baking time as it may vary.
