A delightful twist on traditional stuffing with fresh oysters, herbs, and day-old bread, perfect for any special occasion or holiday meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 rib Celery (chopped)
  • 1 small Onion (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup Butter (cubed)
  • 3 cups Day-old bread (cubed)
  • 1/4 cup Fresh parsley (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon Poultry seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Rubbed sage
  • 1/2 teaspoon Pepper
  • 1 large Egg (beaten)
  • 1 cup Chicken broth
  • 1 cup Shucked oysters (drained and coarsely chopped)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your ingredients by chopping the celery and onion into small pieces, and cutting the day-old bread into cubes.
  2. Sauté the vegetables in a large skillet with melted butter over medium heat until soft and translucent, around 5-7 minutes.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cubed bread, sautéed vegetables, minced parsley, poultry seasoning, rubbed sage, and pepper.
  4. Gently fold in the chopped oysters to ensure even distribution.
  5. Whisk together the beaten egg and chicken broth in another bowl, then pour over the bread mixture.
  6. Mix everything together thoroughly until the bread cubes soak up the broth.
  7. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C), grease a baking dish, and transfer the mixture, spreading it evenly.
  8. Bake for about 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown and crunchy.
  9. Cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Pairs wonderfully with roasted turkey or chicken. Can also be served as a standalone side dish.
