Turkey Chili

A healthy and hearty turkey chili that’s perfect for weeknight dinners and meal prep. Packed with flavor and lower in fat than traditional beef chili.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cans (15 oz each) beans (such as kidney or black beans), drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (28 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped cilantro

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat over medium heat and add ground turkey. Cook until browned and fully cooked, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks.
  2. Add chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté for 3-5 minutes until the onion is soft and translucent.
  3. Stir in drained beans, diced tomatoes (including juice), and chicken broth. Add chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper to taste. Mix thoroughly.
  4. Bring to a simmer, reduce heat, and let cook for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Serve in bowls with optional toppings like cheese, sour cream, or cilantro.

Notes

For added flavor, brown the turkey longer and use fresh ingredients. Consider varying bean types and mix in vegetables for a heartier dish.
