Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, honey or maple syrup, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Whisk everything together until smooth and well combined. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
- If making fruit-flavored frozen yogurt, add your fruit puree. For creamy strawberry version, blend fresh strawberries until smooth and fold them into the yogurt mixture.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1-2 hours to help flavors meld together and ensure smoother freezing process.
- Pour the chilled mixture into your ice cream maker and churn according to manufacturer's instructions (usually 20-30 minutes), or for no ice cream maker method: pour into shallow freezer-safe container, freeze for 1 hour, then remove and stir vigorously with a fork to break up ice crystals, repeating every 30 minutes for 2-3 hours.
- Once frozen to your liking, scoop into bowls and serve immediately for soft-serve consistency, or freeze for another hour for firmer texture. Top with fresh fruit, nuts, or honey.
Notes
Use full-fat Greek yogurt for creamiest texture, don't skip chilling step, ensure ice cream maker bowl is completely frozen, add 1/4 cup heavy cream for extra creaminess, experiment with vanilla bean, lemon zest, or cocoa powder flavors.
